Following Up On The Sleep Issue

September 18, 2011 By Erika Zane

Last week I mentioned an issue I have with my toddler’s nap and bedtime routine.

It’s gotten better, but it’s still not ideal.

Thank you for all the feed back.  I really appreciate how thoughtful you all are!  It’s so nice to know I’m not alone and to have help finding the right resources.  Many days this new mom thing can feel pretty scarey and lonely and this blog really helps.  I feel so blessed to have such amazing support!

I plan on going to the library and/or bookstore this week to look for “The Sleep Lady’s Good Night Sleep Tight” (recommendation courtesy of Alexia from Babies & Bacon) and “Secrets of the Baby Whisperer for Toddlers” (recommendation courtesy of Diana from Hormonal Imbalances).  I’m also going to check out The Baby Sleep Site as my friend Ashley kindly recommended via text (Thanks Ashley!).

As for what’s better?  I took a new stuffed animal I had bought for him out of his room and, though he is still objecting, he’s much less persistent.

I also agree with you, Kristen.  She commented on my personal Facebook page with: “It’s his age. He is now realizing what’s going on and he will be by himself.  At least the talking is calming him down.”.  Every day holds more tantrums in general, so I shouldn’t be surprised that he’s being obstinate when it comes to sleeping, when he’d obviously rather play until he passes out.

I will let you know if I have any “AH HA!” moments as I look over the resources I mentioned.  Thank you again for all the help!  I hope your weekends were fun and you’re enjoying a relaxing Sunday!

About me

Hello and welcome.  It’s been a while.  For Lent this year I decided to fast from the thing that took too much of my attention from what is truly important: Social Media.  Though there are countless amazing benefits to Social Media, after about a month offline so far, there are seemingly just as many negatives.  I never realized how much of my brain had been hijacked by it.  I’ve had so many revelations about how much easier it is to move forward when I’m not constantly reminded of the past.  But I still want to record my family as they grow at this ridiculous speed and, I’m realizing, so many of our family’s memories are here.  Those along with so many of the struggles and stages we’ve worked through.  Maybe in the midst of COVID19 isolation and my kids around me so often, I’m brought back to a time when they were too young for school and with me so often.  Writing here during that time helped make up for the limited adult conversation in my days and the overwhelm provided by my… little treasures 😉 My husband, fur babies, three fiesty kids, and I hereby extend an invitation to visit this little sneak peak into our life. We’re super flawed and broken and there aren’t too many dull moments around here.  And I promise it’s not always as magical as some of my golden hour, sun-soaked images would suggest.  There’s usually too much coffee in my system and we welcome all the prayers.  Come on over if you want to process with me.
