The Big Announcement: We Are Having A…

Yay 3D

Yesterday late afternoon was magical for us.  We got to meet the little one who’s currently taking up residence in my body.

As many of you already know, I delivered Little Man at a free-standing birth center in Colorado – Mountain Midwifery Center.  At twenty weeks, I was sent to a doctor for an anatomy ultrasound to screen for abnormalities and was when we found out the sex.

I remember wondering how so many women knew the sex of their baby before the 20 week marker.  Correct me if I’m wrong, but I get the impression it has something to do with most OB’s having ultrasound machines and tending to scan their patients more frequently, resulting in earlier sex determination.

In any case, I am seeing midwives again with this pregnancy and planning a homebirth. ::YIPEE!::  I am beyond excited about that, in case you couldn’t tell!!!  Anyway,  I would normally have to wait until 20 weeks to find out the sex again, except I decided to be less patient this time and found a place that offers 2D gender scans as early as 15 weeks.  I am currently 16 weeks.

This brings me to last night’s events.  I laid down and when the OB tech placed the instrument on my belly, we saw the clearest picture of:

So, clearly we are having another boy!  Yay!  We have a name picked out, which we are sharing with family and friends.  Please msg me if you want to know!

Here are some of the other wonderful shots we got to take home:

First off a big Congratulations to you and your family. It’s a blessing to have another addition to the family and how awesome that you get to have another boy. Did you have that motherly feeling that you knew it was another boy?

(what’s the name of the baby?)

Thank you! I think I did. I didn’t want to get attached to one idea or another, so I purposely didn’t think about it too much. But I was pretty sure it was another boy. I’ll email you the name!

Again, I’m so thrilled for you! Dylan is going to be a fantastic big brother. And all the fun your two little boys will have together!

I’m excited to hear about the homebirth journey – how neat! I’d wouldn’t want to do one (much to Sam’s relief lol) but I think it’s wonderful to learn about and that it’s an option as a birth choice.

I’m loving the pics! You got some fantastic shots of him! <3

<3 Thanks! I think he will be too! I know. I’m excited for us as parents, but especially for LM to have someone close to his age to play with and relate to.

Yeah, I’m excited to not have to go anywhere while in labor or after. I’ll just get to be home with my newborn. Another plus is, there’s a brand.spanking.new hospital literally down the street that’s opening in a month, so that will be a very convenient and nice back-up option.

About me

Hello and welcome.  It’s been a while.  For Lent this year I decided to fast from the thing that took too much of my attention from what is truly important: Social Media.  Though there are countless amazing benefits to Social Media, after about a month offline so far, there are seemingly just as many negatives.  I never realized how much of my brain had been hijacked by it.  I’ve had so many revelations about how much easier it is to move forward when I’m not constantly reminded of the past.  But I still want to record my family as they grow at this ridiculous speed and, I’m realizing, so many of our family’s memories are here.  Those along with so many of the struggles and stages we’ve worked through.  Maybe in the midst of COVID19 isolation and my kids around me so often, I’m brought back to a time when they were too young for school and with me so often.  Writing here during that time helped make up for the limited adult conversation in my days and the overwhelm provided by my… little treasures 😉 My husband, fur babies, three fiesty kids, and I hereby extend an invitation to visit this little sneak peak into our life. We’re super flawed and broken and there aren’t too many dull moments around here.  And I promise it’s not always as magical as some of my golden hour, sun-soaked images would suggest.  There’s usually too much coffee in my system and we welcome all the prayers.  Come on over if you want to process with me.
