Wow. That pretty much sums it up.
The four part follow up to The Business of Being Born (which was released yesterday!!!) is all I could hope for and more. So much great information. So many awesome interviews. Just amazing.
In short, these DVDs cover lots of vital information. Also, one thing to note for the weak stomachs out there is: there’s nothing about these videos that should make you uncomfortable. The first Business of Being Born had birth scenes, but these don’t.
The first DVD of this set spends time exploring Ina May Gaskin’s The Farm down in Summertown, TN as well as a sit down interview with the woman herself. Let’s just say, I’m now tempted to pack up and go down there to deliver my baby. Well, maybe not, but only because I love my midwives here in NJ. They cover so many relevant topics and if you question why any woman would choose a midwife or homebirth, over a hospital, I think this DVD is a must see. In all honesty, I think it’s a must see for anyone.
The second DVD consists entirely of celebrity interviews. The celebrities included: Laila Ali, Gisele Bundchen, Cindy Crawford, Alyson Hannigan, Melissa Joan Hart, Kellie Martin, Alanis Morissette, Christy Turlington-Burns and Kimberly Williams-Paisley. They had a wide array of birth experiences, ranging from hospital births to home births. The home births were all very different, as were the hospital births. I really think, if you’re only going to watch one of these videos, this is the one you must see. I believe every woman can relate in some aspect to at least one of these ladies. Not surprisingly, I could relate the best with the women who called themselves yogis. Yogi or not, however, there was at least a portion of all these women’s birth experiences that I could relate to, too.
The second and third DVDs are a little more specialized. I feel just as passionately about them as the other two and would recommend watching all four if you can, but if you don’t want to commit to all four up front and you don’t have specific questions about midwives, doulas, birth centers, and/or VBAC options specifically, you could get away with focusing on the first two. However, if you have the time, I think they are TOTALLY worth it. They are packed full of amazing information that you’ll enjoy, whether you’re already a birth expert or not.
What more can I say? Buy the DVDs over on their site now! Go!

I’m definitely interested in the interview with Ina May. Her books helped me decide to go natural with my first birth and I dream of having a child at The Farm. But the birth stories sound really fascinating too. I’m a sucker for a birth story!!
