House Shopping And Other News

You may have noticed I’ve been pretty quiet on here and when I do post, what I write is pretty brief.

We have a lot going on right now.  Along with getting ready for the holidays like everyone else, we’re also trying to prepare for baby #2 and figure out our living and my working situations.  Really, we just want to see how much we can cram into one-two months! 😉

Living situation:
Hubby has a pretty long commute right now, so we’d both like to make that a little better by moving a little closer to the city.  We’re in the perfect rental right now, but if we’re going to move to ease Hubby’s commute when our lease is up at the end of January, we’d like to purchase a home and settle down.  For real.  No more of this jumping around every two years nonsense.

The thing is: we’re living on one income now, so, clearly our price range is limited.  I’m not going to go into the details of our price range or how we got there, but, it turns out, you can get a lot more for your money in Colorado than you can in NJ.  Especially in the areas we would consider commutable to NYC.  I’m honestly not that shocked about that, but it’s a little disappointing.

Along with the consideration of Hubby’s commute, we want to find an area that’s family friendly, has good schools (just in case we don’t home school), isn’t too far from family and one of my closest friends (a huge blessing in my life), and actually has detached, single family homes we can afford.  Of course, being that I’m pregnant and due in the spring, it would be better if that home was move-in ready.  We might be asking for too much…

To say the least, the process of finding our next home is turning out to be stressful.  While researching homes online, we fell in love with the perfect house which we found out was a short sale when we spoke with our realtor.  Now, if we had 6-8 months we’d probably jump at it, but we don’t really.  So we started looking around more and last weekend went to look at four homes.  The only one we fell in love with, turned into a short sale that day.  Of course it did!

We’re expanding our search criteria a little now.  I guess if we don’t find anything else, we’ll look into extending our lease or staying with family until we can close on the short sale property we love.

My Working Situation:
As if that isn’t enough, I’m also working on starting a blog/web design business.  I took a class through The Blog Designers Network and April Showers which I just finished last week.  I still have some practicing and learning to do, but I’m really excited about this new endeavor.  I’ll talk more about it in the next few weeks!

What about the birth doula certification, you ask?  I’m going to have to put that on hold for about a year.  I’m still very excited and passionate about that journey, but there’s too much going on with our family right now to embark on a career that will catch me at unpredictable times.

So that’s our life.  Never a dull moment.  What fun would that be?

Hang in there! We needed to sell our condo and buy a house in a new area when I was pregnant with Baby. We moved into the new house when I was 9 months pregnant… and I got laid off from my job at that time… so I understand stress during pregnancy 😉 Luckily, everything worked out better than we ever even hoped, and I know the same will happen for you!

That’s life! We should sacrifice sometimes for the sake of our family. But sacrifices is just a passing fancy, look at it later on, you’ll enjoy every single minute of your life.
Good luck on your pregnancy and have a happy holiday!

About me

Hello and welcome.  It’s been a while.  For Lent this year I decided to fast from the thing that took too much of my attention from what is truly important: Social Media.  Though there are countless amazing benefits to Social Media, after about a month offline so far, there are seemingly just as many negatives.  I never realized how much of my brain had been hijacked by it.  I’ve had so many revelations about how much easier it is to move forward when I’m not constantly reminded of the past.  But I still want to record my family as they grow at this ridiculous speed and, I’m realizing, so many of our family’s memories are here.  Those along with so many of the struggles and stages we’ve worked through.  Maybe in the midst of COVID19 isolation and my kids around me so often, I’m brought back to a time when they were too young for school and with me so often.  Writing here during that time helped make up for the limited adult conversation in my days and the overwhelm provided by my… little treasures 😉 My husband, fur babies, three fiesty kids, and I hereby extend an invitation to visit this little sneak peak into our life. We’re super flawed and broken and there aren’t too many dull moments around here.  And I promise it’s not always as magical as some of my golden hour, sun-soaked images would suggest.  There’s usually too much coffee in my system and we welcome all the prayers.  Come on over if you want to process with me.
