Tracking Baby Wyatt’s First Year: 7 Months Old

November 3, 2012 By Erika Zane

3 Nov

Before I share his 7 month photos, I wanted to look back through his first six months.

I really can’t get over just how much he’s changed in such a short time.  Also?  We’re more than halfway through his first year!!

You can tell by the pictures what a happy baby he became after the first three months.  I mean, from day one he was incredibly sweet but, since the three month mark, he’s Mr Smiley.

Of course, as I write this, he’s protesting his nap and not smiling at all.  But hey, everyone has their bad days.  This is him now.  He’s clearly tired, but fighting it like crazy…

But, I do have some great pictures from this past month, which better capture his personality:

6.5 months old

two weeks later at exatly 7 mo

Isn’t it amazing how much his balance improved in two weeks?  I would never have felt comfortable with him sitting on a stone wall with or without Dylan two weeks ago.  Also, doesn’t he look like a little yogi?  I’m so proud 😉

As for the milestones:

  • he sometimes goes up to 9 hours without waking up at night
  • he started sitting up unassisted about a week after he turned 6 months and only started really getting the hang of it over the past couple of weeks
  • he’s 18lbs and he’s wearing 9-12 month clothing (I’m pretty sure he’s the size Dylan was at 9 months old)
  • he has SIX teeth already and I think he might be getting more with how fussy he’s been
  • we’ve started some baby-led weaning and he prefers to feed himself finger foods over letting me spoon feed him
    • his favorite foods are:
      • bananas
      • apples
      • chicken
    • he’s not a huge fan of (which, interestingly, were Dylan’s favorites!):
      • squash
      • peas
      • mango

About me

Hello and welcome.  It’s been a while.  For Lent this year I decided to fast from the thing that took too much of my attention from what is truly important: Social Media.  Though there are countless amazing benefits to Social Media, after about a month offline so far, there are seemingly just as many negatives.  I never realized how much of my brain had been hijacked by it.  I’ve had so many revelations about how much easier it is to move forward when I’m not constantly reminded of the past.  But I still want to record my family as they grow at this ridiculous speed and, I’m realizing, so many of our family’s memories are here.  Those along with so many of the struggles and stages we’ve worked through.  Maybe in the midst of COVID19 isolation and my kids around me so often, I’m brought back to a time when they were too young for school and with me so often.  Writing here during that time helped make up for the limited adult conversation in my days and the overwhelm provided by my… little treasures 😉 My husband, fur babies, three fiesty kids, and I hereby extend an invitation to visit this little sneak peak into our life. We’re super flawed and broken and there aren’t too many dull moments around here.  And I promise it’s not always as magical as some of my golden hour, sun-soaked images would suggest.  There’s usually too much coffee in my system and we welcome all the prayers.  Come on over if you want to process with me.
