Warmth, vacation & the dreaded bathing suit {#aHeartFitFriday Link-up}

March 29, 2013 By Erika Zane

29 Mar

You breath in the warm, salty, deliciously moist air and melt into your lounge chair, as the sun hugs you with it’s warmth.

Time at the beach is heavenly, no matter how you look in a bathing suit, right?

Hi!  I’m still here.  Just running a little behind today.

Let me tell you, it’s just been one of those weeks.  You know?  The kind where you have so many calls to make, emails to return, errands to run, and chores to do, that you can’t keep any of it straight and you end up doing none of it.  Or is that just me?

Anyway…

Andy and I are coming up on our 5 year wedding anniversary.  It feels like longer and yet it went incredibly fast.  Not really sure how that’s possible, but that’s how it feels.

When we got married, we promised each other we’d do something special to commemorate the milestone every 5 years.  So, with two kids and not nearly enough time spent as a couple, we’ve decided to take a trip.  We’re spending an extended weekend at the same resort we where we honeymooned.

So, I have a confession.  This trip has been my greater secret motivation for a few months now.  Wyatt just had his first birthday, which I will post about soon (we’ve all been sick, repeatedly, the past two weeks which makes pictures pretty much impossible) and that was my initial goal.  I mentioned wanting to have family pictures taken, which we are next weekend.  I made that goal last week.  I’m not done yet, though.

In preparation for the beach, I’m now focusing on fitness and toning rather than weight-loss.  If I lose more weight while getting more exercise, great.

psst – I lost another 2 lbs this week 🙂

Wait, everything I’ve just said makes it sound like all I care about it looking good in a bathing suit.  Obviously, I’d rather be comfortable in my suit, but I’m not trying to show a ton of skin or anything either.  More than anything, I want to have full use of my body.  I watch my son run and climb and jump all over the place.  I watch the way he moves and can see that there’s not one muscle that goes unused.  I want to be like that.  I want to be in the best possible condition so that my body doesn’t wear out on me too early.

The weather is finally consistently warm enough for walks outside and hopefully this is the last round of illnesses, so now I hope to start logging some serious mileage with the CharityMiles app.

How are you doing with your fitness goals? Don’t forget to link up!

There’s nothing wrong with wanting to look good. We all do. We’re going to the beach for a week at the end of May, and I want to get more weight off before then. Honestly, my friend and I cover up pretty good due to modesty, so we don’t wear traditional bathing suits. Mostly shorts and sleeveless tops. But I STILL want to look good in them. LOL

You’re doing such a great job. And congrats on the 5 years! Hubby and I celebrated our 30th last September. 😉

Yeah, my bathing suit is technically called a swim dress and covers me up pretty well for the same reason. 🙂 It’s just nice to feel good, right?

Thanks! A late congratulations to you on 30 years! I’m sure the next 25 will fly by, huh? hugs to you!

About me

Hello and welcome.  It’s been a while.  For Lent this year I decided to fast from the thing that took too much of my attention from what is truly important: Social Media.  Though there are countless amazing benefits to Social Media, after about a month offline so far, there are seemingly just as many negatives.  I never realized how much of my brain had been hijacked by it.  I’ve had so many revelations about how much easier it is to move forward when I’m not constantly reminded of the past.  But I still want to record my family as they grow at this ridiculous speed and, I’m realizing, so many of our family’s memories are here.  Those along with so many of the struggles and stages we’ve worked through.  Maybe in the midst of COVID19 isolation and my kids around me so often, I’m brought back to a time when they were too young for school and with me so often.  Writing here during that time helped make up for the limited adult conversation in my days and the overwhelm provided by my… little treasures 😉 My husband, fur babies, three fiesty kids, and I hereby extend an invitation to visit this little sneak peak into our life. We’re super flawed and broken and there aren’t too many dull moments around here.  And I promise it’s not always as magical as some of my golden hour, sun-soaked images would suggest.  There’s usually too much coffee in my system and we welcome all the prayers.  Come on over if you want to process with me.
