Big Brother Dylaneous {Wordless Wednesday… mostly}

Most likely another name courtesy of my resident nickname mastermind, “Dylaneous” just fits our son like a glove.

I feel bad I don’t write about him more.  He’s just so much fun.  The things that come out of his mouth are priceless.

Let’s see… Some of my favorite phrases of his to-date are:

  • “Jus fi minute mommy, understand me?”
  • “I wuv my baby”
  • “I wuv [friend, teacher, relative] so, so much”
  • “I not have any yet. Not yet, mommy” (usually in reference to dessert or something he wants)
  • Me: “Do you want to watch a show?”  Dylan: “ummmm… YES!” ::giggles:: “I WIKE that!”

It’s fun to finally feel like we’re communicating.

Of course there are days when his need to have something, whatever that may be, trumps his ability to listen and my patience is just not where it should be and everyone just falls apart for a few minutes.  But even then, once we’ve both stopped throwing our respective tantrums, he’s quick to bounce back to his happy, carefree, and helpful self.

He used to love having his picture taken, but lately it’s rare. It usually requires bribery, and I almost never get anything other than the worst cheesy, fake grin. Miracles do happen, though.

He is an awesome big brother.  He loves to share with his Wyatt, though sometimes he may need a pep talk, and he loves to help him.

Today, I actually decided to move them into the same room because they’re so inseparable.  Neither seems to be able to sleep if they know the other is awake and since their schedules are starting to sync up, I decided to give it a try.  I’ll let you know how that works out next week 🙂

I have a feeling sports are in his future.  He never stops moving and he could spend hours throwing, kicking, catching, and hitting balls (with or without a baseball tee) in our backyard.  I’m sure that has something to do with Wyatt’s obsession with throwing and kicking any ball he can find.

Dylan, I love you so, so much buddy!  You make each day amazing.  Hearing you say “my mommy” never gets old.  Don’t grow up too fast, please!  I’m already having trouble keeping up.

    So sweet! Isn’t it fun when you can have grown up conversations with your kids? It gets me excited for all the long talks well have with them over the years to come!

    I also enjoyed my kids, especially the pre-schoolers; they delight in everything they see

About me

Hello and welcome.  It’s been a while.  For Lent this year I decided to fast from the thing that took too much of my attention from what is truly important: Social Media.  Though there are countless amazing benefits to Social Media, after about a month offline so far, there are seemingly just as many negatives.  I never realized how much of my brain had been hijacked by it.  I’ve had so many revelations about how much easier it is to move forward when I’m not constantly reminded of the past.  But I still want to record my family as they grow at this ridiculous speed and, I’m realizing, so many of our family’s memories are here.  Those along with so many of the struggles and stages we’ve worked through.  Maybe in the midst of COVID19 isolation and my kids around me so often, I’m brought back to a time when they were too young for school and with me so often.  Writing here during that time helped make up for the limited adult conversation in my days and the overwhelm provided by my… little treasures 😉 My husband, fur babies, three fiesty kids, and I hereby extend an invitation to visit this little sneak peak into our life. We’re super flawed and broken and there aren’t too many dull moments around here.  And I promise it’s not always as magical as some of my golden hour, sun-soaked images would suggest.  There’s usually too much coffee in my system and we welcome all the prayers.  Come on over if you want to process with me.
