Exciting updates on Wyatt, Dylan, and Photography

Since Wyatt turned one, I haven’t done the monthly updates.  I can’t even remember the last update I posted on Dylan.  I guess I really haven’t done much blogging lately.

I mean, it’s only been… umm, four months.  Geez!  It doesn’t seem like it’s been that long since Wy’s first birthday.

I haven’t posted at all since my hair update two weeks ago (again, really?!?! two weeks have gone by?!).  Oops!

In all fairness, I haven’t been sitting around eating bon-bons or anything. 😉  I’ve been working on a few things: a couple of photography clients booked with me all at once and inspired some location scouting and creative practice with my boys.  All of that activity also motivated me to spend some time working on a logo, site design, and do a little print lab research.

How could I write about anything when I had plans I couldn’t wait to share?  Ya know?

So… I’m planning to reveal the new site and have a “grand opening” celebration on Facebook tomorrow.  My new site has the typical portfolio, about me, pricing, and blog sections.  I’ll post about my sessions, share special offers, and provide “how-to” tutorials on my new blog!  I can’t tell you how excited I am!

As for mommy world and the little feet pounding the floors of this house, Wyatt’s now 16 months old and Dylan’s 3 and 1/2 years old.  They’re both extremely active and curious and there’s never a dull moment.

Dylan, knocked his two front teeth out and needed stitches on his chin a few weeks ago when he fell on the playground at school.  His teachers may have under-emphasized the seriousness of the fall when they told me over the phone that he had “a loose tooth and a cut on his chin”, but I’m sure they were just trying to keep Dylan calm and prevent me from panicking before I could see for myself.

Wyatt’s climbing all over EVERYTHING.  Seriously, there’s pretty much not one surface he’s left untouched.  I’m also losing my mind a little.  Hey, just being honest.  I love how curious and active his is, but wow.  Who needs the gym?!  I was sitting at my computer about a week ago, in the morning while Dylan was at school, when I realized Wyatt was a little too quiet.  I walked into the main living area and found him atop our dinning table playing with the salt and pepper shaker.  I did take a picture, but I can’t find it right now for some reason.  I might just have to share that one another time!  But, here are some other ones from last week at a nearby state park arboretum.

This little guy is changing so fast and I can hardly keep up.  He’s signing only a little because he’s already saying so many words.  It’s a totally different experience than it was with Dylan.  It’s still so amazing to me how different brothers can be, despite the fact that my sister and I have always been so different.

I’m just loving their ages and, as I grow and adjust to this life with two, I’m realizing that I could have more… maybe.

Sorry about the little man’s fall!

Loved seeing the pictures of the kids and “catching up”. And excited to hear how things are progressing with your photography!

I’m so sorry about Dylan’s teeth. 🙁 At least they were baby ones. My youngest son was in school and pitched his desk forward and his teeth hit the floor. I was afraid he would lose them or they would turn black, but he’s now 24 and it hasn’t happened yet. LOL

That’s exciting about your website and the photography. I can’t wait to see it!

Erika! I can’t believe how big they are getting! Well, yes I can actually. It goes by fast.

Sorry about Dylan’s teeth. Andrew chipped one of his front teeth pretty badly in Ukraine last summer. Do you just not worry about it because they’re baby teeth, or…?

Not sure if you saw, but we had a successful home birth last month – yay! Thank you for being part of my inspiration, mama! 🙂

Aw, his missing teeth make him look more grown up! He is still so very handsome. I can’t believe how fast our babies are growing. Congratulations on your new venture! I’m excited for you!

About me

Hello and welcome.  It’s been a while.  For Lent this year I decided to fast from the thing that took too much of my attention from what is truly important: Social Media.  Though there are countless amazing benefits to Social Media, after about a month offline so far, there are seemingly just as many negatives.  I never realized how much of my brain had been hijacked by it.  I’ve had so many revelations about how much easier it is to move forward when I’m not constantly reminded of the past.  But I still want to record my family as they grow at this ridiculous speed and, I’m realizing, so many of our family’s memories are here.  Those along with so many of the struggles and stages we’ve worked through.  Maybe in the midst of COVID19 isolation and my kids around me so often, I’m brought back to a time when they were too young for school and with me so often.  Writing here during that time helped make up for the limited adult conversation in my days and the overwhelm provided by my… little treasures 😉 My husband, fur babies, three fiesty kids, and I hereby extend an invitation to visit this little sneak peak into our life. We’re super flawed and broken and there aren’t too many dull moments around here.  And I promise it’s not always as magical as some of my golden hour, sun-soaked images would suggest.  There’s usually too much coffee in my system and we welcome all the prayers.  Come on over if you want to process with me.
