Planning for Baby #2

Ok.  So here’s my update in the childbirth department, as promised.

I found a very local midwifery practice, which I think I mentioned, made up of two midwifes.  They will do either a home or hospital birth depending on your preference and the healthy, normal/low risk progression of one’s pregnancy.

As soon as I found out I was pregnant, all discomfort around a home birth went out the window.  I scheduled an introductory appointment with the midwifes, to make sure we clicked and I fell in love.

The intro appointment turned out to be more of an orientation with another pregnant woman where we were given the practice’s background and each midwife’s individual background and were encouraged to ask questions.  Both midwifes are extremely experienced, have amazing relationships with some top local OBs, have hospital privileges at the nearest hospital, and are amazingly down to earth and warm.

I don’t want you to think I’m throwing around the work “warm”.  Let’s just say, in my last appointment I did not feel too uncomfortable during the pelvic exam and that is unusual for me.  It was just a quick, easy, no fuss thing and then we moved on.  Don’t get me wrong, I’m not saying it was fun or anything.  Just not the usual torture and I could sense she cared.

Anyway, I’m really looking forward to my home birth.  Everything about it.  I will keep you updated with the preparations for that as well as my progress as I pursue becoming a birth Doula!

So fantastic! I wish you the best with your home birth plans! If only I was that brave. But our birth center is only a few miles from the house and it is comfy as hell. And they usually release you home around 4 hours after birth. Maybe Baby #3 will be at home? lol

About me

Hello and welcome.  It’s been a while.  For Lent this year I decided to fast from the thing that took too much of my attention from what is truly important: Social Media.  Though there are countless amazing benefits to Social Media, after about a month offline so far, there are seemingly just as many negatives.  I never realized how much of my brain had been hijacked by it.  I’ve had so many revelations about how much easier it is to move forward when I’m not constantly reminded of the past.  But I still want to record my family as they grow at this ridiculous speed and, I’m realizing, so many of our family’s memories are here.  Those along with so many of the struggles and stages we’ve worked through.  Maybe in the midst of COVID19 isolation and my kids around me so often, I’m brought back to a time when they were too young for school and with me so often.  Writing here during that time helped make up for the limited adult conversation in my days and the overwhelm provided by my… little treasures 😉 My husband, fur babies, three fiesty kids, and I hereby extend an invitation to visit this little sneak peak into our life. We’re super flawed and broken and there aren’t too many dull moments around here.  And I promise it’s not always as magical as some of my golden hour, sun-soaked images would suggest.  There’s usually too much coffee in my system and we welcome all the prayers.  Come on over if you want to process with me.
